Alex Bumblebee sighed softly as he dropped his bag of equipment by his bedroom door as he opted to head straight for the shower. It’s been a fairly stressful week and after his martial arts session of the night, he just wanted to wash off and sleep.

He knew that Ironhide and Ratchet were asleep, and Prime was working on something in the shop. Bee would have loved to join Prime, helping out the older man whenever he could, but he had a test in his first class tomorrow and Prime would sometimes get absorbed into his work and stay up all night until he got it the way he wanted it. He didn’t want to go take a test while being groggy from the lack of sleep.

After one of his quick showers, Bee fell onto his bed to sleep but it seemed that in the next instant, his alarming was blaring in his ear. After turning it off and refusing the urge to just throw the clock across the room, the young man pulled himself from bed and went off to take another shower in hopes to wake up a bit more. He could grab some coffee if Prime had made some, but Bee doubted that the man wouldn’t be up until later when he was at school.

Grabbing his school bag and his MP3 player charging by his bed, he began his way to school, waving to ‘Hide as he opened the shop for the day. Bee could only hope that the day would go by quickly.

oOo

Eric Prime went from one stance to another smoothly, transiting to a new kata straight from the one he started the practice with. The smooth, wooden practice sword was held perfectly straight, moving fluidly with him as if it was an extension of his body. He woke up late in the morning to Ratchet and Ironhide arguing over a problem and decided that he needed to stretch a bit before starting work again.

The shop phone rang and when Prime heard ‘Hide answering it, he focused on his martial arts again, not letting anything distract him. The sound of the phone being hung up reached his ears, as did the sound of someone walking down the hall to the cleared area where Prime was.

“What is it, Gabriel?” Prime asked, stepping into the next stance.

There was a moment of silence before ‘Hide spoke up. “The school just called.”

Prime refrained from rolling his eyes. “What explosive did Bee make today?”

“He didn’t. They said that he collapsed during his P.E. class.”

Prime was across the room and nearly through the door before he knew it, only stopped by an arm across the doorway. He looked and ‘Hide in surprise and dark brown eyes just stared back. “It’s nothing serious. He has a slight fever and it might be from just stress. Bee will be all right, Prime. Wear something more than you pajama pants and I’ll tell Sebastian to stop guarding the door.”

The shorter man scowled slightly, feeling a flush cross his cheeks, and turned towards the interior of the building to get to his room and change. It didn’t take him more than five minutes to do so, but each minute grated on his nerves as the clock ticked. Grabbing his keys and wallet, he made his way to the door where Ratchet stood, flipping through a magazine. The blond looked Prime over and stepped aside to let the man leave.

“Traitor…” Prime muttered as he went through the door and a soft chuckle answered his accusation.

The school was only a ten minute drive from the shop. Prime didn’t know what he would have done if it was longer. His mind knew that Bee would be okay, a slight fever wasn’t that bad, but the words he collapsed kept echoing in his ears. He parked the Camaro outside the front entrance, took a moment to calm himself down, and went up to the doors and inside.

He was greeted by a young woman at the office desk and she smiled at him. “May I help you?”

“Yes, Miss…” Prime took a moment to look at the name on the desk. “Arcee. I’m Eric Prime. I was called earlier and I’m here to pick up Alex Bumblebee.”

She nodded once and left the desk, disappearing around the corner and further into the office. A minute or so later, she appeared with Alex in tow, the young blond looking a bit gray and almost ready to collapse at a moment’s notice. Blue eyes looked up but then shied away when he saw Eric, and he didn’t say anything.

After the painless process of Prime signing Bee out of the school for the day, they silently made their way to the car parked outside and climbed in. The moment the doors were shut, Prime pulled Bee close, holding the younger man.

They stayed in that embrace before Bee pulled away shortly. “’m sorry,” he said softly.

“There’s nothing to be sorry about, Alex. I was just worried.” He started up the Camaro and drove towards the shop. “Gabriel picked up the call and then told me that you collapsed.” He looked at Bee from the edge of his eyes. “What happened?”

The blond shrugged. “P.E. was a bit rough, but no more than usual.” He scowled for a moment. “One minute, I was running with the other guys, the next I was waking up in the nurse’s office.” He leaned against the door, resting his forehead on the glass window. “I dunno what’s been going on. I’ve just been feeling off for the past few days.”

Prime reached over and brush his knuckles against Bee’s hair. “Just rest for the day and I’ll drag Sebastian into giving you a quick check up tomorrow morning before school.” He chuckled softly. “Can you believe that Gabes actually had him watch the door so that I wouldn’t storm to the school to get you in my pajamas? I would… have…”

The older man trailed off when he noticed that Bee had fallen asleep against the window, his breath fogging the glass briefly every time he exhaled. Smiling gently, Prime settled for resting his hand on top of Bee’s and drove in silence the rest of the way.

Prime worriedly glanced back to the door that lead out from the shop and into the rest of the building before going back to his current project, only to repeat it a few minutes later. Ratchet watched all of this with an expression that was a mixture of amusement and worried.

The moment the medic took a step out of his room that morning, Eric had grabbed his arm and dragged him to where Bee was sleeping to do a check up before school. The only thing that they found out was that Bee’s fever rose a degree, something a thermometer could have told them without Ratchet hovering over it. The younger blond woke up long enough to have his temperature taken, but then fell right back to sleep. Since then, it has been fairly calm. They made it into mid-afternoon without any problems.

Ratchet watched as Prime slowly set down his tools and wiped off his hands, his eyes on the door the entire time. Beside Ratchet, ‘Hide leaned over, muttering, “It’s not like he has a sixth sense about Bee…”

Before anyone could reply, Prime walked quickly out the door, moments before a scream echoed through the building.

oOo

Bee didn’t know what he was dreaming about or why it was filled is strange symbols. All he knew was that something in the dream was painful enough that he did wake up screaming. He was struggling for a few moments before he actually felt the strong arms holding him and the soft voice soothing his mind.

“E-eric?” he question, his voice quiet, barely heard.

“I’m here, Alex. It was just a dream. Nothing more than a dream.” Gentle hands brushed over his hair and Bee relaxed against Prime.

“But it hurts, Eric.”

oOo

“What was that about?” ‘Hide asked as Ratchet closed the door to Bee’s room. His southern accent was more pronounced as it generally was when the man became worried.

“Some people have bad dreams when they’re sick. I haven’t seen Bee sick before, but it’s possible that it happens to him.” Ratchet stared blankly at the door for a moment before turning to ‘Hide with a reassuring smile. “Nothing to worry about. I’ll take over Prime’s job.”

‘Hide shook his head as he followed the blond medic back to the shop.

Bee woke up early the next morning, blinking bleary at the alarm clock by his bed. After a moment he snuggled against the chest pressed up to his back. Bee’s fever broke in the middle of the night, but Prime continued to stay with him afterwards. The warmth of another body and knowing that the man he loved was so near helped ward off the bad dreams.

After an hour ticked by on the clock, Bee pulled himself from the bed, took a shower, and started to make breakfast. The others were generally up earlier on Saturdays since more work seemed to come in on the weekends, and since Bee was up early enough, he would be able to make a variety of things. With his MP3 player on and playing through the earphones, he began to pull out different ingredients and began first on French toast.

oOo

Prime walked into the kitchen, the smell of coffee and bacon enticing him from the hall. He blinked in surprise then smiled when he saw Bee moving around the kitchen and listening to his music, piling what appeared to be pancakes onto a plate and placing the plate into the oven to keep the food warm.

The young man jumped when Prime wrapped his arms around his waist. Bee pulled off the earphones as Prime leaned down to press a gentle kiss to his temple. “You could have woken me up, you know.”

Bee smiled back at him, opened his mouth, closed it, frowned, and opened it again. Prime watched as the blond’s eyes widened in slight panic as he look around the room and then grabbed a pen off of the table. He wrote something on his hand and showed it to Prime.

“ ‘I lost my voice!’ Ah shit…”

oOo

Ratchet leaned back, putting away the small flashlight he used to look at Bee’s throat. Behind him, Prime hovered over his shoulder, fidgeting, ‘Hide nibbled on a piece of French toast, and Jazz looked vaguely amused at everything. Jazz had been away for the past few days, missing the news that Bee got sick, but at least he wasn’t freaking out about it.

Unlike other people…

“What is it?” Prime asked, looking like he wanted to physically prod Ratchet if the man didn’t answer quickly enough.

The medic rolled his eyes but kept his attention on Bee. “Have you completely lost your voice or does it just hurt too much to talk?”

Bee looked around in hopes to find a wayward pen again, but couldn’t. After a moment, he pulled out his cell phone and typed his response before showing Ratchet the screen. Just hurts.

“Have you been coughing a lot?”

Bee typed on his cell phone again. Sorta.

“Any yelling?”

A red flush crossed Bee’s cheeks and ‘Hide began to laugh. Bee typed something but hit the send button before Ratchet could see. ‘Hide’s phone, predictably, went off and the man nearly choked when he saw the message. He scowled at Bee but the younger man merely grinned back.

Ratchet turned around when the nervous energy Prime radiated became unbearable. “As far as I can tell, it’s laryngitis. Things that would stress his vocal cords and the fever could have done this. He can’t talk for a while, probably, but again, nothing serious.” Ratchet looked to Bee. “Drink plenty of fluids, avoid clearing your throat since it will make it worse, and I advise that you stay out of the shop. There are things in there that would hurt your throat more if you start coughing.”

“Less chattering in the shop now!” ‘Hide said with a grin.

Bee typed another message on his cell phone and hit the send button as he bolted from his chair. ‘Hide took one look at the message he got and chased after the blond, yelling insults at him in a thick southern accent.

Jazz set his sunglasses down on the table as he snagged a pancake, grinning to the only two men left. “Thanks for the food and entertainment! I’ll be in the shop if you need anything.”

Few Days Later

Bee finished off his homework with a grin. Being one day behind wasn’t so bad, but he had to make up for that day quickly if he wanted to graduate early. Stuffing the papers and books into his backpack, he left it by the door and wandered to the shop.

Jazz had gone home for the day and Ratchet and ‘Hide left to go pick up a special requested car. Bee knew that the trip would take the entire night and most of the next day, so that left the shop empty save for him and Prime. He walked up silently behind the older man who was working on a Mustang, his head almost disappearing into the hood.

Prime nearly jumped at Bee’s touch, but managed to escape without banging his head on the hood. He stood up and set down his tool before smiling at Bee. “Throat any better?”

“A bit.” The words were still softly spoken, but each day that passed, Bee’s voice got stronger. He leaned against the taller man and sighed happily when a arm was rested against his hip. “I still need to thank you.”

“Oh?”

“Yea, and I’ve thought up a few ways to do it…” Bee pulled Prime out of the shop, grinning at the older man. Needless to say, Prime followed willingly.
I completely blame *sleepyoldvamp-sama for this! I swear, between the movie, and the beautiful pics and stories by Sleepoldvamp-sama, I'm over obsessed... I stole the human forms, and their names, from what I can grab, are:

Eric Prime (Optimus)
Alex Bumblebee (aka Bee)
Gabriel Ironhide (aka 'Hide)
Sebastian Ratchet
Jazz

One shot story thing that came to me after reading Transformers: Ghosts of Yesterday, which is fairly good if short. No plot and drabble-ish, but something I wanted to write in hope of it being sweet.

Again, see Sleepyoldvamp-sama's pictures!!! Once you've seen, you'll understand my obsession ><

Since he got me obsessed with this, this is dedicated to Sleepy-sama *glomps onto him and refuses to let go*
