Silver flashed in the light of the kitchen and Gabriel winced with each pass, refusing to hiss at the pain the sharp object produced. After a while, he had to stop, setting down the objects in his hands and flexed his fingers, feeling slowly coming back to them, only to pick up the instruments again to repeat for a few minutes. Nothing caught his attention from the task at hand until footsteps sounded down the hallway. Gabriel froze his hands under the table, and looked a bit surprised when Ratchet walked in, dressed for bed and a damp towel around his neck.

They looked at each other warily, and Gabriel finally broke the silence with a, “What are you doing up so late?”

“Last project ran over so I decided to shower and crash here… What about you?”

“Nothing.” The word came out quickly and Gabriel refused to duck his head down at the suspicious look Sebastian gave him.

“Ironhide. Hands.”

It wasn’t a voice that Prime used to give orders, but when it came from a person like Ratchet, it was instantly obeyed. He showed the medic his hands and Ratchet looked worried at the tiny spots of blood on his fingers.

“What were you doing?”

‘Hide showed the bundled up blue fabric that was resting on his lap and gave Ratchet a sheepish grin. The blond rolled his eyes. “Go wash your hands. It will probably sting seeing how many times you stuck yourself…”

The larger man stood up and wandered to the sink, washing the tiny bits of dried blood off of them and wiping the water off with a paper towel. He went back and sat down at the table again, watching Sebastian study the fabric with interest, picking up the needle and beginning where Gabriel left off.

“The other repairs look fine,” Sebastian muttered, most of his concentration on the needle. “What’s wrong with this one?”

“Nothing. My fingers can fix an engine easily, but they’re not made for something like a small needle.” Gabriel easily got transfixed by the way Sebastian’s slender fingers wove the thread through the fabric and it took him a few moments to realize that Ratchet had stop, watching him. “What?”

“Why do you still have this blanket? It’s been repaired so many times that it’s more thread than fabric.”

“It’s something my Nana gave to me before she died. She was one of the few of my family that understood why I chose what I want.”

“Oh.” ‘Hide could see that Ratchet looked at it with a new light, care in his eyes as he studied the fabric anew.

“I didn’t know you could sew,” Gabriel ventured, hoping to make the topic a bit lighter.

“Basic medic training. Have to know how to close the wounds even if it might not help.”

Gabriel’s mouth closed with a snap. There went that plan…

Sebastian looked back to him and gave him a gentle smile. “Don’t worry about it.”

He stood and threw the blanket over Gabriel’s head and ‘Hide caught a faint look of surprised when his hand closed over the wrist and pulled Sebastian close. The kiss was sweet and gentle, hidden by the folds of the blanket, something just for them.

“Come to bed?” Gabriel asked, his expression pleading.

Sebastian’s eyes sparked slightly and the smile he gave Ironhide was just as sweet as the kiss. “Sure.”
Random short, sweet fic that's been floating around my brain. Now that I got it written down, I wonder if I can pull out two lemons for one story that's also up there.

Just in case it was forgotten:
Gabriel Ironhide
Sebastian Ratchet

With the wonderful character designs belonging to *sleepyoldvamp-sama.

And I don't know about anyone else, but I like using the term "Nana" for grandma. But I don't know if it's southern or British, 'cause my Nana is both... *can't write/speak in accents worth a life*
